Passports: US citizens traveling to Mexico will not need a passport until Jan 1 2009. Drivers license or birth certificate are recommended.
FEDERALES:
Travelers to Guadalupe Canyon will encounter 2 or more Federales (Mexican Army) check points.
The Soldiers are in uniform and carry assault rifles. They are
looking for the illegal guns and drugs. They may want to look
in your car. Be polite and you will soon be on your way. I have
never had any reports of unprofessional behavior by the Federales.
